Special Education Teacher Support Services (SETSS)
SETSS services are for children 5 years of age or older who are classified with a disability. SETSS are specially designed and/or supplemental instruction provided by a special education teacher that can help your child stay in the general education classroom. SETSS services are designed to be flexible, helping students to remain in the general education classroom and use the combined expertise of both the general and special education teacher. Special education teacher support services may be provided through direct instruction, or a combination of direct and indirect.
Special education teachers work directly with your child and provide specially designed instruction through individual or small group to provide your child with compensatory skill development and remediation activities. The special education teacher may adapt the subject matter and or use visual aids, highlighted worksheets, simplified directions, and other kinds of modified instruction.
Services are provided as indirect services, where collaborative consultations between the special education teacher and the general education teacher focus on adjusting the learning environment and/or modifying and adapting instructional techniques and methods to meets the individual needs of the student in the general education classroom.
